Hospital summary
This is a district general hospital and offers a comprehensive range of medical, rehabilitation and surgical specialities including: general surgery, general medicine, paediatrics, high dependency care, cardiology/critical care, theatres, orthopaedics, intensive care, gynaecology, obstetrics and A&E.
They see approximately 36,300 inpatients and 10,600 outpatients every year and some 70,700 patients attend their 24-hour consultant led A&E department.
Location
The hospital is situated at the heart of West Yorkshire. The area, though geographically small, is quite densely populated with around 180,000 residents. The population is culturally diverse with approximately 11% of residents being of South Asian origin as well as a range of other resident nationalities.
The Hospital is conveniently located equidistant from the M1 and M62. Situated to the north east of Dewsbury town centre, on the A638 Halifax Road, Dewsbury and District Hospital is easily accessed via the UK motorway network.
