We have a brilliant new opportunity for RMO's across the UK.

For the successful candidates you will be on duty at all times. During the day, there are usually quite a few consultants treating their patients. But in the evening and overnight this is not the case and so the hospitals employ a doctor to be on the premises at all times. This doctor is called a RESIDENT MEDICAL OFFICER or RMO and one of his/her primary tasks is to deal with cardiac arrests and other emergency situations during the evening / night. As the first minutes after a cardiac arrest are crucial, the RMOs live in the hospital. During the day, the RMOs deal with booking patients in, pre-op preparation and post-op care. RMOs may be asked to assist in theatre.

The responsibilities range from that of a house officer to a registrar. You are required to remain on site at all times in case of a cardiac arrest. The essential duties are to deal with any emergency that may arise, and to recognise and report to the consultant in charge any deterioration in the clinical condition of patients.

A certain level of clinical experience and proficiency is expected, ALS/ATLS (advanced life support/advanced trauma life support) is essential, and a postgraduate qualification is desirable.

They are hoping that the team will be in place at the latest by April this year, so their focus is on recruiting the right team very efficiently which will affect the way the hospital is run in a big way.

The Hospital is a specialist neurological rehabilitation centre with a hospital, ten supported living bungalows, six homes and a day-care centre, based on a single campus of nearly eight acres on the outskirts of Salisbury in Wiltshire.  It caters for patients with acquired brain/traumatic injuries and other neurological conditions who need rehabilitation as a result of physical, cognitive and behavioural conditions, as well as providing complex care to patients who require specialist nursing and medical care in a high dependency setting.
