An interesting opportunity has arisen for an SHO/RMO level doctor with a private medical client in Aberdeen. The role is for a Medical Officer, responsible for examination and appraisals of fitness to work, pre-employment medicals and back to work assessments and advising clients of fitness to work issues. The company is involved in occupational health checks to companies who supply staff to the off shore oil rigs. You will also occasionally provide telephone advice to medics in relation to the delivery of primary care and emergency treatment on offshore installations, on vessels at sea and overseas and other Duty Doctor tasks including mobilising offshore and visiting client premises.
The team at the office in Aberdeen consists of up to 4 medical officers, up to 4 senior medical officers and 2 medical directors. On average you'll see roughly 15 patients per day. there are two other sites in the aberdeen area that you will have scheduled into your rota to work at on occasion. You'll know of this in plenty of time and will only be based there on the odd occasion. Working hours are 37.5 per week on a rota system from Monday to friday with office hours running between 8am and 6pm.

The Company is a multi-national CRO with research centres in Central and Eastern Europe, South Africa, India and the UK. The conduct mainly Phase 2, 3, and 4 trials, although they do have a clinic to conduct phase 1 trials in South Africa. They have seven Dedicated Research Centres or DRC’s in the Uk, based in Lancashire, Manchester, Merseyside, Midlands, Thames Valley, Glasgow and Cardiff.
They have a number of vacancies across at the Midlands, Cardiff and Lancashire branches, but the most urgent of these is in the Lancashire centre. The job will involve the full remit of clinical research including: recruiting and managing the patients to the level required of the particular phase of research, managing and inputting all the data, being in direct contact with the patients to help them through the trial.
The Clinical research Physician will work 37.5 hours per week. The role comes with an annual salary of £50K - £55K and 25 day annual leave plus Bank holidays plus time off at Christmas when they shut down for a period. Working hours are either 08.00-16.30 or 08.30-17.00 Monday to Friday. No On Call.
It’s essential that you have a real passion for clinical research, are abele to work effectively as part of a team, that you can communicate well with the patients, nursing and Administrative team, and your direct reporting lines. You’ll be in a leadership position and must be able to lead effectively, making decisions at appropriate times and be able to act independently and to take direction from the senior management tea. You’ll ideally be commercially minded and understand the necessity of hitting trial targets.
Our experience of this client is that that are well organised, with a long term view of how their business is going to develop and they do as much as they can to make sure their staff are happy and well settled. The Recruitment process will involve a first interview at head office with the Hr team and a Clinical director and then a second interview if you are successful at the actual site you are hoping to be recruited to. The process in general will take between two and four weeks.
