The post is based at Queen Mary's Hospital site. This is a District General Hospital officially opened in 1975 and has 430 beds. It is situated 15 miles from Central London on the A20 (Maidstone Road) and serves a population of approximately 218,000.
 
In addition to the general clinical departments, there are also paediatric, surgical, geriatric and ophthalmic departments.   Supporting services include well equipped diagnostic Radiology, Pathology and Pharmacy departments.
 
The Post Itself
 
This is a Junior Clinical Fellow post that participates in the SHO, resident on-call rota with the other F2 and Junior Clinical Fellows. The post is on the SHO grade , which is currently £- £per annum. The post also attracts a Band 1B supplement of 40% of basic salary for out-of-hours commitment, and a London Allowance of £ per annum.  
 
The post is not recognised by the Royal College of Surgeons for training purposes and is therefore only open to those with Full Registration. Possession of MRCS or equivalent is desirable but not essential.
Duties of the Post
 
The Junior Clinical Fellow is required to assist the Consultant in the management of all patients, preparing trauma lists and supervising / teaching the F1 doctors. Duties will include the receiving and managing trauma and elective Orthopaedic admitted patient, doing daily ward round, maintaining detailed medical records, teaching / training of the F1 doctors, assisting in the operating theatre, working under the supervision of the Registrar/Clinical Fellows and Consultant.   The postholder is also required to attend to all correspondence pertaining to the Orthopaedic Department and to ensure that all summaries are despatched as quickly as possible.
Attending the operating theatre is encouraged but the ward work is to be sorted as first priority. Audit and Clinical research will be encouraged.

A vacancy has arisen in a Trust in Wales for a Speciality Doctor in Anaesthetics. The post offers a rare and excellent opportunity to join a progressive team and to contribute to the on-going development of Anaesthetic services within the NHS Trust. Although work on all 4 sites may be possible by agreement, it is likely that the successful candidate will be part of the ‘junior tier’ of cover, consisting of 8 members: 5 FTSTA’s, 1 Trust Grade and 1 SAS doctor providing Anaesthetic services based at a subsequent Welsh Hospital. Progression to the ‘Senior Middle Grade tier’ of 8 member (5 staff grades and 3 associate specialists) will be an option for career progression based on experience, performance and the availability of posts (as and when these arise). 
 
Qualifications: 
·4 years post-registration in full-time hospital service
·Minimum two years experience in Anaesthetics
·Minimum part l Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists or acceptable alternative where the training and education has been comparable in extent and standard.
·Willingness to undertake additional professional training
 
Clinical Experience: 
·Minimum of 4 years clinical training  in hospital posts at SHO level and above including adequate experience in the specialty

Medacs Healthcare have a number of exciting opportunities for A&E Doctors to work in an Acute NHS Hospital in Southern England.
The hospital sees around 215,000 outpatients a year, 58,000 patients are admitted for treatment with around 72,000 patients attend their A&E department.

This service is open 24 hours a day and treats patients with minor injuries and ailments.   

The resus room contains five beds, with one bed dedicated to paediatric patients. This area is utilised for those patients with potentially life threatening illness and injuries.

The Majors area is for patients who present with a serious illness or injuries, who require clinical investigations such as ECGs, blood tests and advanced nursing care. 

This specialist service is provided everyday from 9am to 9pm.  The department employs Registered Sick Children's Nurses who have specialised and are experienced in A&E care. Outside these hours all children's attendances are managed through the A&E Minors area.
The observation ward is utilised when patients need further investigations or require a period of nursing / medical observation before they can be safely discharged.

The post holder will join an existing team of A&E Doctors  You should hold a number of years experience in Emergency Medicine or in an acute speciality and wish to further your career in Emergency Medicine. Ideally you will hold full GMC registration, or in the process of gaining full registration.

The successful candidates will be forwarding their reports to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) where decisions on benefit entitlement are made.   Examinations are performed in one of their 150 Medical Services Examination Centres nation-wide or in the claimant’s home.  Full training is given to allow the Registered Medical Practitioners to become specialists in the field of Disability Assessment.  Some doctors may wish to progress to obtaining the Diploma of Disability Assessment Medicine (DDAM), approved by the Faculty of Occupational Medicine.
