General Medicine - Middle Grade NEEDED
HCL International are currently recruiting for Middle Grade Doctors in General Medicine to work in one of the UK's largest Teaching Trusts incorporating 5 hospitals. They provide around one million appointments and operations a year and offer almost every kind of treatment available through the NHS.
This NHS Trust is one of the UK's largest teaching Trusts which serves a population of over a million people and has won several awards for outstanding performance.
The hospital has around 850 beds for the care of inpatients and a number of specialist outpatient clinics including a prosthetic eye department and specialist ophthalmology centre. An NHS Walk in Centre and Minor Injuries Unit offer services for people with small injuries that that can be treated without the need for emergency care.
Applicants must be able to register with the GMC and NEED TO BE ABLE TO START BETWEEN NOVEMBER 2009 AND JANUARY 2010!
- Duties consist of the day to day care of inpatients on surgical or medical wards, including the routine clerking of patients and organising their routine investigations as well as performing appropriate practical procedures such as (but not limited to) venepuncture, IV cannulation, arterial puncture, blood cultures, skin suturing, lumbar puncture and pleural aspiration.
- Applicants should have the ability to recognise acutely sick patients and be competent in performing an initial assessment of their status and be able to plan an initial appropriate management strategy.
-Duties also include the attendance at designated ward rounds, participation in the out of hours care (“on call”) for the hospital, teaching of medical students and attendance at department or directorate training and teaching sessions when requested to do so.
