Theatre Sister - Leeds

We are looking for a Theatre Sister/ Charge Nurse, you must hold a valid NMC pin, to work in our clients Hospital in Leeds.
 
The Hospital, one of the most technically advanced private hospitals in Europe, is a foremost provider of independent healthcare in Yorkshire. As an 88 bed, six theatre hospital, the service provision is varied, covering everything from outpatients and minor procedures through to major surgical specialties – including neurosurgery, cardio surgery, gynaecology, orthopaedics and more.

You will be expected to deliver high quality clinical patient care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care. You will remain clinically current as an expert practitioner who develops practice and drives excellence. You will take responsibility for the management of the Theatre Suite in the absence of the Theatre Manager.

Working as part of a team, you’ll be delivering high quality patient care. The predominant specialties treated are orthopaedics, cosmetic treatments and a variety of other surgeries including general, gynaecology and urology. You will take responsibility for the planning, implementation and evaluation of care. This will include the day-to-day supervision of junior nursing staff and students.

A qualified, registered practitioner, we’ll expect you to have post-registration training in a specialist area, plus a qualification in teaching and assessment. You’ll also need substantial experience as a team leader and mentor in a senior role. ILS/ALS skills would be an advantage.

Full training and support will be provided.

A registered, experienced practitioner, you have ideally gained knowledge in a variety of specialist areas. You should have excellent communication skills, as well as qualifications in teaching, assessment and Immediate Life Support (ILS).

We are looking to recruit an Orthopaedic Surgeon to provide an onsite orthopaedic surgical service to meet the needs of patients treated at the our clients NHS Treatment Centre, Portsmouth. The centre hosts a day surgery unit and outpatients department which offers minor orthopaedic procedures mainly around the area of hand and foot surgery.
 
Key duties involved in the role are:
Clinical Management of Patients
Provide a high standard full range of specialist diagnosis, treatment and care to day cases and outpatients who need orthopaedic services
Provide advice and assessment of patients as requested by the nursing staff during routine working hours.
The post holder will be responsible for liaising with senior colleagues in the neighbouring NHS Trust to effect the seamless transfer of acutely ill patients who require transfer across to the NHS.
Contribute to the development of Clinical Quality Standards.
Contribute to the planning and development of orthopaedic services.
Contribute to the Centre meetings and clinical governance programme.
Carry out the necessary clinical duties to ensure the optimum care and treatment of patients.
Comply with the work schedule as developed by the General Manager.
Participate in local and national specialty clinical meetings.

Promote the centre by demonstrating a customer-focused approach at all times to patients, consultants and staff.
Attend GP events and meetings to promote the orthopaedic service provided by the treatment Centre.
Demonstrate the ability to be able to motivate and persuade others through advanced communication skills.
Maintain and develop professional expertise through self-directed learning and continuous professional development.
Maintain a portfolio of professional practice and performance data required for the appraisal process developed by Care UK.

Essential Qualifications:

Job description :
