Job Summary
 
This is a great opportunity to join our successful business development team. Medacs Healthcare has a great opportunity for cardiology doctors all grades who:

    * Provide expert clinical opinion on acute and chronic cardiology problemsResponsibility for clinical care of patients and ensure appropriate action is taken on each examination
    * Managing and Reporting on Cardiac diagnostic services including Echocardiography, ECGs, Exercise ECG and Ambulatory Blood Pressure measurement and 24 hour ambulatory ECG’s
    * Ability to assess and manage acute medical problems (many specialist cardiologists are not accredited in general medical problems, do you need medicine or cardiac
    * Responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness (Not clear - what does this mean ie will the write prescriptions, bedside manner etc or just a technical person)
    * Responsibility for the sign off of all cardiology reports

    * Contribute to innovative practices of cardiac procedures and service delivery to patients and the customer

 

 
The post is based at Queen Mary's Hospital site. This is a District General Hospital officially opened in 1975 and has 430 beds. It is situated 15 miles from Central London on the A20 (Maidstone Road) and serves a population of approximately 218,000.
 
In addition to the general clinical departments, there are also paediatric, surgical, geriatric and ophthalmic departments.   Supporting services include well equipped diagnostic Radiology, Pathology and Pharmacy departments.
 
The Post Itself
 
This is a Junior Clinical Fellow post that participates in the SHO, resident on-call rota with the other F2 and Junior Clinical Fellows. The post is on the SHO grade , which is currently £- £per annum. The post also attracts a Band 1B supplement of 40% of basic salary for out-of-hours commitment, and a London Allowance of £ per annum.  
 
The post is not recognised by the Royal College of Surgeons for training purposes and is therefore only open to those with Full Registration. Possession of MRCS or equivalent is desirable but not essential.
Duties of the Post
 
The Junior Clinical Fellow is required to assist the Consultant in the management of all patients, preparing trauma lists and supervising / teaching the F1 doctors. Duties will include the receiving and managing trauma and elective Orthopaedic admitted patient, doing daily ward round, maintaining detailed medical records, teaching / training of the F1 doctors, assisting in the operating theatre, working under the supervision of the Registrar/Clinical Fellows and Consultant.   The postholder is also required to attend to all correspondence pertaining to the Orthopaedic Department and to ensure that all summaries are despatched as quickly as possible.
Attending the operating theatre is encouraged but the ward work is to be sorted as first priority. Audit and Clinical research will be encouraged.

For the successful candidates you will be on duty at all times. During the day, there are usually quite a few consultants treating their patients. But in the evening and overnight this is not the case and so the hospitals employ a doctor to be on the premises at all times. This doctor is called a RESIDENT MEDICAL OFFICER or RMO and one of his/her primary tasks is to deal with cardiac arrests and other emergency situations during the evening / night. As the first minutes after a cardiac arrest are crucial, the RMOs live in the hospital. During the day, the RMOs deal with booking patients in, pre-op preparation and post-op care. RMOs may be asked to assist in theatre.

Key Responsibilities:
·        Manage the nurse team, ensuring a quality customer focused clinical service to clients.
·        Carry out 1-2-1s on a monthly basis, Organise recruitment and arrange induction training for new staff
·        Work closely with the Health Services Manager and Management team to ensure efficient service delivery.
·        Carry out designated health assessments in accordance with medical fitness standards and company policies and procedures
·        Maintain safe and competent practice
·        Assist the on-site first aid team and security team with emergency care.
·        Provide immunizations and travel health advice
·        Able to use standard office equipment and also general medical equipment e.g. Keystone Vision Screener, defibrillators, etc.
·        Recording and managing client data, to produce statistical reports.
 
 
Skills & Previous Experience Required:
 

    * Post registration experience preferably in A&E or Practice Nurse setting
    * Experience of Health Screening
    * Experience of leading a nursing team.
    * Broad clinical skills.
    * Basic IT skills
    * Good interpersonal/ communication skills (written and verbal)
    * Practice nurse qualification would be advantageous but not essential
    * Broad clinical skills including venepuncture
    * First level (Adult) RN.

• Support operational management with Occupational Physician recruitment
• Ensure Occupational Physicians are inducted and trained appropriately
• Agree performance plans with all ‘employed’ doctors and review regularly in accordance with Performance Management Guidelines
• Ensure clinical staff are working to required clinical and behavioural standards on an ongoing basis
• Carry out Bupa Occupational Health assessments in a professional manner, in accordance with BUPA Wellness procedures
• Support business development initiatives both internal and external
• Be Contract Lead Professional for the development of nominated key client relationships, working with operational and sales colleagues to refine delivery models and manage the client relationship.
• Ensure high standards of customer service are delivered by OH delivery points
• Give other Occupational Physicians and Occupational Health Advisers assistance and advice in relation to complaints and ensure corrective action is taken to prevent re-occurrence.

• Minimum MFOM or equivalent. Would be prepared to consider someone who is within a few months of completing Specialist Training in Occupational Medicine.
• Appropriate level of Occupational health experience required
• A sound and up to date knowledge of OH clinical best practice
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to influence clinical and non-clinical staff and involve them in quality initiatives
• Customer relationship management experience
• Commercial Awareness
